him in this ad airing this week. >> it's really bad timing for romney and the election. people are viewing it through their own lens. they got to make this close. anything like this matters. >> reporter: it has sparked a frenz frenzs of new ads -- frenzy of new ads. >> we got to get this guy elected! >> reporter: a romney spokeswoman says that mitt romney disagrees with mr. murdock and his comments do not reflect his views. "we disagree on the policy regarding the exceptions for rape and insteft but still support -- incest but still support him." the republican chair says it is the right move by romney to stand by murdock but not for this issue. >> i think it's absolutely fine for him to disagree with the candidate he endorses on one issue, and i'm the chairman of the republican party, and i don't agree with candidates who we endorse on every issue. >> reporter: president obama's

campaign said "murdock's statements are outrageous and demeaning to women." and they said it was a reminder of the gop's views on women's health. both campaigns have issue the statements byou not the -- issued statement, but not the candidates. both want to keep a distance from murdock. some polls indicate that governor brown's prop 30 tax plan is barely hanging on. so he is asking voters to make a choice: approval a temporary tax hike or accept deep cuts. >> what i can tell you is our options are very few, if any. >> reporter: what would the triggers mean? the biggest hit will be to k-12 education which is expected to take about a $5 billion hit. that's roughly equivalent to three weeks worth of school funding. community colleges would stand to lose about $550 million.

>> we're going to have to start cutting classes. word >> reporter: cal state plans to raise tuition by 5% if it doesn't pass. and cutting enrollment by about 20,000 students statewide, and lay off 1,500 teachers and support staff. it also means cuts of about 17 million to san francisco state, 16 million to san jose state. >> the trigger cuts are really blackmail, frankly. they're put in there designed to force taxpayers to approve this measure. and i don't appreciate being blackmailed. >> reporter: and one of the questions voters ask is will lawmakers really go through with such unpopular cuts or scramble to find money elsewhere? what are the chances of reversing course? >> i can't speculate. but our options are

it has been plenty of snow showers in the mountains. if you want to go skiing as soon as thursday, squaw valley is opening up. and we've seen very impressive snowfall totals. 2 feet of snow, if not more, in alpine meadow, sugar bowl, squaw valley, and 2.5 feet of new snow at boreal. lows tonight in the 40s for you in napa. high pressure is building in, and we'll get a touch of summer once again. high pressure building off to our south right now. not that much warmer. we're going to have some fveng weekend weather with some -- fantastic weekend weather with some of you getting into the 80s. the weekend looks very nice with mainly sunny skies.

was about...i would say... two months ago. i very rarely put gas in my chevy volt. i go to the gas station such a small amount that i forget how to put gas in my car.
